So you’re making sure to exercise every now and then? Good on you! Next time you have a rest day, be sure to channel your inner Plains-wanderer. This one-of-a-kind species isn’t the best at flying and often lives a sedentary lifestyle. While not entirely flightless, they tend to fly low and poorly, relying on camouflage to avoid being seen.  Sadly, less than 1,000 of these birds are left in the wild, and we’re doing all we can to protect them on our Boolcoomatta Reserve. It doesn’t look like you’ll become a Plains-wanderer this time around. Are you ready for the next question?

We have plenty of colourful birds on our reserves, some need more protection than others! The Golden-shouldered Parrot is an iconic and vibrant Australian bird, but it’s disappearing. It’s estimated there are only between 780 and 1,100 individuals left in the wild. Once they are gone there is no coming back. You won’t become the Golden-shouldered Parrot in this quiz,  but you should definitely keep up to date with Bush Heritage and our critical conservation work to protect our colourful friends!

Not trying to find love, eh? Funnily enough, one of the birds we protect on our reserves does just that! Male Splendid Fairy-wrens like to flirt with danger. To attract the female’s attention, males sing their mating songs, specifically when predators are nearby! Something tells me this isn’t the Birdsonality for you….

Interestingly, a bird on this list is best known for its seduction techniques involving the construction of an elaborate set, on which they perform an intricate dance to attract females. Bush Heritage protects this species on a variety of reserves by protecting their habitat and managing invasive species. Based on your answer, this may not be the bird for you.
